A benefits change, a new work location and an hourly pay run can create three separate administrative jobs. UZIO brings those tasks into a connected US payroll and HR platform, with a place for employers, employees and benefits brokers in its workforce ecosystem.
That makes UZIO a relevant choice for a business organizing its US workforce. Borderless AI becomes relevant at a different point: when an overseas employee needs a legal employer and your company does not have its own local employment setup. Its EOR service covers employment agreements, onboarding, payroll, taxes and benefits.
The decision may involve using both. Adding an overseas employee does not, by itself, create a reason to replace a working US payroll system.
What are you buying?
Where UZIO fits
UZIO's appeal is the connection between workforce administration and pay. Its platform overview describes employee data syncing with payroll, benefits enrollment, time tracking, scheduling and payroll reporting. Federal, state and local tax administration is part of that offering.
For a US employer with hourly staff, the practical evaluation is whether approved hours, employee changes and benefit deductions reach payroll correctly. Ask for a demonstration using your own pay frequencies, locations and approval roles. Include your benefits broker if that person will be involved in ongoing administration.
UZIO also markets support for distributed employer networks. That can matter when several employers or locations need coordinated workforce administration. It does not establish who legally employs a person in another country. Keep that employment question separate from the number of locations a platform can display.
How much does UZIO cost?
UZIO's published monthly plans show a base fee plus a per-employee fee:
- Core: $30 base plus $13 per employee.
- Essential: $50 base plus $22 per employee.
- Premium: $80 base plus $27 per employee.
Core includes one state for tax filing; Essential and Premium include up to three. Additional states cost $30 per state, per EIN, per month. The pricing FAQ states a one-year contract and an implementation fee equal to one month's service amount.
These details matter for a business adding locations. Build a quote around the number of entities, filing states and modules you need, rather than employee count alone.
Borderless lists EOR, global payroll and contractor management as separate service categories. Compare the quoted scope with the job being purchased. A payroll software fee and an EOR service fee cover different responsibilities; neither represents the employee's total employment cost.
Can UZIO support employees in Canada or the UK?
UZIO's current coverage statement is framed around US states. Its US multi-state payroll offer should not be treated as a Canadian or UK payroll commitment.
A Canadian or UK headquarters may still need UZIO for employees working in the United States. Conversely, a US headquarters hiring someone who will work abroad needs to resolve that person's local employment and payroll arrangements.
Start with where the employee will work and who will employ them. If your business already has an appropriate local employer setup, assess a country-specific payroll service. Borderless offers global payroll as a separate service from EOR. If you need a provider to become the legal employer, evaluate EOR availability and terms for that country.
Does UZIO pay contractors?
UZIO publishes a 1099 contractor option and specifies that tax filing and HRIS are excluded from that add-on. A contractor payment feature should be evaluated for its own worker and payment requirements.
For a contractor outside the US, ask about the supported country, tax documentation, payment destination and currency before selecting a service. A US 1099 workflow is not evidence of an international contractor service, and contractor payments do not supply a legal employer for an employee.
Keep US payroll, add overseas employment when needed
Consider a business whose US team already uses UZIO and now wants to hire one employee abroad. Its existing payroll, time and benefits workflows may still suit the US staff. Borderless's employment service can be evaluated for the overseas role without making the domestic payroll decision again.
The additional work is operational: decide who approves compensation changes, how employment costs reach accounting and where managers find employee records. Request that process alongside the proposal.
UZIO deserves consideration when the problem is connected US workforce administration. Borderless AI deserves consideration when the missing piece is a local legal employer abroad. Define the gap first, then buy the service that closes it.
