An India payroll team may spend its month chasing attendance corrections, approved leave and salary changes before it can close payroll. Pocket HRMS addresses that connected HR workflow. A US, Canadian or UK company hiring its first employee abroad may have a different gap: someone needs to be the worker's legal employer.
That distinction determines whether Borderless AI belongs on the same shortlist. Pocket HRMS deserves consideration for operating Indian payroll and HR. Borderless AI's employer of record service is relevant when you need to employ someone internationally without establishing your own local entity.
The practical comparison
The deciding question is who employs the worker. Adding payroll software does not, by itself, appoint a local employer.
Where Pocket HRMS fits an Indian operation
Pocket HRMS's payroll features include configurable salary structures, a formula builder, arrears, and statutory deductions. It describes support for PF, ESI, TDS, Professional Tax and Labour Welfare Fund, along with compliance updates and payroll documents.
That gives an existing Indian employer a concrete reason to shortlist it. Evaluate the actual sequence: correct an attendance entry, approve leave, apply a pay adjustment, review the calculation, then close the period.
The employee portal lets staff access payslips, update information and request time off. Those tasks matter if HR is currently answering each request manually. Ask employees and payroll administrators to try their respective parts of the same scenario during the demonstration.
For buyers headquartered in the US, Canada or UK, the relevant geography is where employees work. An Indian payroll product can suit an Indian subsidiary. Its Indian statutory features should not be treated as proof of US, Canadian or UK payroll support. Request the exact country scope if your proposed rollout crosses borders.
Pocket HRMS pricing and the finance handoff
The published payroll plans, checked October 19, 2026, list:
- Standard: ₹2,995 per month, billed annually, for 50 employees; ₹60 per additional employee.
- Professional: ₹4,495 per month, billed annually, for 50 employees; ₹90 per additional employee. Listed additions include geofencing, custom payslip design, assets and employee exit.
- Premium: custom pricing, with a stated minimum subscription of 100+ employees. Payroll journal voucher integration, custom integrations and API webhooks appear here.
The separate HRMS pricing page lists a one-time implementation fee and treats recruitment, performance, expenses and timesheets as add-ons. Include those requirements in the quote instead of assuming the entry price covers the whole HR operation.
Finance deserves its own demonstration. Pocket HRMS's homepage names accounting connections including Tally, SAP and QuickBooks. The pricing FAQ describes certain integrations on “Professional and Enterprise” plans, although its plan cards use “Premium.” Ask which edition and connector your proposal includes, what is transferred, how cost centres map, and how a correction reaches the ledger. A connector name alone does not answer those questions.
When Borderless AI becomes relevant
Suppose your company wants to hire abroad but has no local employer arrangement for that employee. Borderless AI's EOR offering covers the employment relationship, including agreements, payroll, taxes and benefits, without requiring you to establish your own entity. Confirm availability and terms for the specific hire before proceeding.
If you already have the employer infrastructure and want to coordinate international payroll, assess global payroll separately. An EOR contract should follow an employment need, rather than become the default answer to every payroll problem.
Software subscription fees and EOR service fees buy different scopes. Compare the full operating cost for each proposed arrangement, including internal administration and required services. Request a country-specific EOR quote rather than converting Pocket HRMS's rupee subscription into a misleading price contest.
Two questions before you decide
Can Pocket HRMS handle contract workers?
Its payroll FAQ says the software can be configured for hourly, salaried and contract employees. That describes payroll configuration. Establish the worker's employment or independent-contractor arrangement separately; a configurable employee type does not settle it.
Can you keep Pocket HRMS and add an EOR?
Yes, that can make operational sense. Keep a working Indian HR and payroll setup for employees your organisation already employs, and consider an EOR for a separate overseas hire who needs a local employer. Agree who maintains each worker's records, approves changes and reconciles costs. Treat this as two coordinated services unless a specific integration is included in your agreement.
For an Indian payroll replacement, make Pocket HRMS prove the attendance-to-payroll-to-ledger workflow. For hiring without your own local employer, make Borderless AI prove the employment arrangement. A broader HRMS feature list cannot substitute for that decision.
