Dismissal is done in accordance to the employment contract and with just reason.

Notice period

Those on probation must be given at least one week of notice, or severance of a weeks' salary.

Employees past probation that were dismissed due to negligence or misconduct must be given at least 4 weeks of notice in advance, or an equal amount of salary in severance.

The general probation period in Nauru is 6 months.

Severance is paid at the employee's salary over a 12 week period.
