Employment Information

Termination Process

Employers need to get approval from the union if the employee is a member. 

The Employee Insurance Agency must be notified if the termination is based on long-term disability or macro economic change.

Notice period

3 days - performance/misconduct

2 weeks - ability to work is impacted by health or lack of qualification

2 months - employer ownership change/ redundancy

Probation Period

The probation period varies per employment agreement and cannot exceed 3 months.

Severance Details

Severance is 1 month's salary for every 2 years of service.
